Mike Barker Obituary, OBION COUNTY, Tenn. — Mike Barker, a 52-year-old resident of Hornbeak, Tennessee, has died following a boating accident Wednesday at a private pond near Cloverdale, per to the Obion County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office noted a water rescue operation was launched after relatives members became concerned and multiple agencies responded to assist with the search. Officials later recovered Barker’s body at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Per to Obion County Sheriff’s Office Captain Joe Key, Barker was using a kayak equipped with a trolling motor when the vessel apparently capsized. The occurrence led to the emergency action taken effort at the pond.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that Barker was the person recovered during the rescue operation and that the incident has been ruled an accident.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the capsizing or what may have led to the accident.
Barker’s death has been noted as a loss for the Hornbeak community as authorities proceed to document the circumstances surrounding the situation.
