Chambers dedicated more than three decades of her life to serving Ellis County, beginning her career with the county in 1992 as Deputy County Treasurer. She later served as Assistant County Auditor before being elected County Treasurer in 2010, a position she held while continuing her commitment to accountability, integrity, and public service.
Throughout her career, Chambers became one of the most recognizable and respected public officials in Ellis County. She was known by colleagues and residents for her willingness to listen, encourage others, and build personal connections with those she worked alongside. She served as a board member of the organization and was president from 2017 to 2018, helping support the education and development of county treasurers and elected authorities across the state. In recognition of her leadership and dedication, she was named Texas County Treasurer of the Year in 2021.
Outside of public service, Chambers was devoted to her loved ones and local area. She married Steve Chambers on August 14, 1987, and together they built a life centered around relatives, service, and shared experiences. She was a loving mother to Justin and Stephanie and cherished her role as a grandmother to Allison and Emerson. She also valued the special bond she shared with her sisters, Rhonda and Gay, including their tradition of spending Saturdays together.
Chambers was also committed to giving back through volunteer work. She served at Campfire Creek and was a member of the Lions Club, continuing her dedication to helping others beyond her professional responsibilities. Those who knew her remembered her for her kindness, generosity, and the care she showed toward friends, colleagues, and public members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Linda Shelkofsky; her stepfather, Butch Nelson; her brother, Dino Martin; her father-in-law, Hubert Chambers; and her mother-in-law, Hughlane Chambers.
