Alexander D. Morelli and Doug A. Griffith Obituary, CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — Alexander D. Morelli, 23, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Doug A. Griffith, 51, of Massena, New York, lost his life following a motor vehicle accident on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua on August 20, 2026.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office remarked the crash transpired at approximately 3:40 p.m. Deputies, along with members of the North Lake Fire Department, Sherman Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS, responded to the scene following reports of a motor vehicle accident involving injuries.
Per to the inquiry, Morelli was traveling eastbound on Route 430 when his vehicle failed to keep right and crossed over the center line. The vehicle then struck another vehicle traveling in the westbound lane.
The westbound vehicle was operated by Griffith, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to both drivers.
Morelli, who was 23 years old and from Meadville, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. Griffith, 51, of Massena, New York, was also pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies assisted at the crash site. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The deaths of Morelli and Griffith mark a tragic outcome from the Route 430 crash. Their passing leaves those who knew them to mourn their loss, while authorities go on to document the circumstances of the fatal collision.
