Josh Outran, Roger Duarte, Adam Navaty, Stephen Vasconquez, Henry Parra, Michael Contugi and Suian Suarez Obituary, SAMBURU COUNTY, Kenya — Josh Outran, Roger Duarte, Adam Navaty, Stephen Vasconquez, Henry Parra, Michael Contugi and Suian Suarez have passed away following a helicopter crash near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County, northern Kenya, on Wednesday morning.

The seven victims were aboard a Eurocopter EC130 B4 helicopter that crashed at approximately 9:13 a.m. local time in a remote area roughly 170 miles north of Nairobi. Based on to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the helicopter was traveling south from Loisaba Wildlife Conservancy toward the Ewaso Nyiro River when the crash took place.

Emergency crews responded to the crash site, but difficult terrain created challenges in reaching the wreckage. Witnesses indicated seeing smoke and flames after the helicopter went down, while response teams worked in the aftermath of the event.

Law enforcement later verified that all seven people aboard the helicopter were killed and that there were no survivors. The victims were identified as pilot Josh Outran and passengers Roger Duarte, Adam Navaty, Stephen Vasconquez, Henry Parra, Michael Contugi and Suian Suarez.

Among those killed was Michele Sensi-Contugi, identified in reports as Ecuador’s Strategic Intelligence Centre director and a senior government security official. Ecuadorian media indicated that Sensi-Contugi was traveling with his wife, who was also among those who lost their lives in the crash.

The U.S. State Department confirmed that five American citizens were among the seven victims. Reports stated that the helicopter was based at Loisaba and had picked up passengers from the Suyian Wildlife Sanctuary before the flight ended in the fatal crash.

The crash took place near Mount Ololokwe, one of northern Kenya’s notable landmarks known for its rugged landscape, wildlife and tourism activities. The remote location added challenges for emergency responders working to access the site.

Kenyan aviation and law enforcement authorities go on to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not confirmed the cause, and investigators are examining factors including the helicopter’s flight path, operating conditions, weather and mechanical systems.

The deaths of Josh Outran, Roger Duarte, Adam Navaty, Stephen Vasconquez, Henry Parra, Michael Contugi and Suian Suarez have brought an international dimension to the tragedy.
