Cherokee County, Georgia — A domestic dispute in Cherokee County led to a stabbing incident Thursday afternoon, leaving two people wounded and prompting an ongoing investigation by local law enforcement.
Based on to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the occurrence transpired at about 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A on Highway 92 near Interstate 75. Deputies responded to the scene following the indicated altercation.
Authorities noted the confrontation involved a mother and her daughter, with both individuals sustaining injuries during the situation. After the confrontation, the mother ran inside the restaurant, where Acworth Police officers who were already at the location assisted her while emergency medical services were contacted.
The mother was later transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. No further information about the extent of her injuries was provided.
The daughter reportedly left the area in a vehicle with two children and traveled north on the interstate. Law enforcement used automated license plate reader technology to locate the vehicle, and she was subsequently stopped in Whitfield County during a felony traffic stop.
Spokespeople confirmed that the two children inside the vehicle were not injured. The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office assisted authorities during the action taken, and traffic in the area of the stop was temporarily affected before the situation was cleared.
The Chick-fil-A involved in the incident was closed for the remainder of the evening as agencies continued their investigation. The circumstances surrounding the domestic dispute and the events that led to the stabbing have not been fully released.
